Unfortunately for you, and New York in general, everybody's favorite folk-singing lesbian couple are leaving their Enchanted Patio behind after a critically acclaimed eight-month run of Free To Be Friends (written & performed by Julie Klausner & Sue Galloway) at the Upright Citizen's Brigade theater. (Word on the street is they'll be back someplace or other sometime or other.)

Tonight's 8pm performance is your chance to bid them adieu, auf weidersehen or your choice of farewell.

So, how will the two being spending their time off?

Betty: This summer I plan to take in a lot of sun, because it is good for the pores. And I heard that sometimes there is more of it in the summertime! Also, I was told that I should be reading a lot more, and doing crossword puzzles. So, if I can tear myself away from hoeing the garden, which will be extremely difficult, because it is a, what's it called, when you do something over and over, and you just keep doing it, because everything else is so terrible and you just can't think about it, you know, you do the same thing over and over, just the same thing, over and over again, you take peat moss, and you put it on the ground, then you do it again, all your pets come out and watch you, jeez, I am not sure what it's called, but I will be doing it nonstop over and over again.  That's what I am going to do. I need to find where a crossword puzzle is! Maybe that is the puzzle of it all. That is probably it. I will look under the X! I am sure there is an X out in the yard. I better go out there now!

Joan: You know, when I was a  school teacher back in Great Neck, I would spend my miserable days flanked by muppets just powerfully fantasizing about my summer vacation, and a nude Janis Ian. I love using the summer to do things that are reasonably fun, like walking at a sensible pace through a sprinkler, or drinking unsweetened lemonade.

See what you shouldn't be missing here.
