Tekjansen

Heads up, Truth believers! The word straight from the San Diego Comic Con (aka The Gathering of the Great Unwashed) is that Oni Press will publish a series based on Stephen Colbert's Tek Jansen. Yes, that's the same Oni Press that distrubutes CC Insider favorite Scott Pilgrim (thanks to T. Lange and Newsarama for the tip).

I don't belive the KESSEL RUN line was incorrect at all. A ship is limited as to when it can use hyperspace. The major factor the hyperspace system failing near planetary masses due the the gravity well. Engage to early, and your ship is ripped apart like a leaf in a gale. A very carefull calibration of Hyperspace forces withing the stucture of the Millenium Falcon allowed it to enter and exit hyperspace unusually close to gravity wells. Hence, the time spent travelling in Normal space very small and so the time from start to finish the journey was extremely fast.

Add that the KESSEL run ran through an asteroid field and a number of solar systems, each jump in and out of hyperspace multiplied the value of close jumps dramatically.

Hey, Stephen!

Love you and your show! You are one of the funniest, gutsiest guys on the air. I was just wondering, does it bum you out that the second syllable of your last name sounds like "bear?" (chuckle)

I'm going to put you on notice, Duncan, for not knowing it is the KESSEL Run. Colbert was making an obvious reference to the misuse of parsec in that scene. Stephen Colbert for President! :)

Just wanted to put you on "Notice" that the next airing of Stephen Colbert's Alpha Squad 7 Lady Nocturne: A Tek Jansen Adventure won't be seen in 3 parsecs. It's a measurement of distance not time (about 3.3 light years). The Millenium Falcon was able to do the Kessler run in less than 12 parsecs because the ship is so fast, it can travel close to planets without being sucked in by their gravitational pull (ie.traveling a shorter distance). Any fan of the Regan Administration and his proposed "Star Wars" plan should know this. Frankly Stephen, I'm a little disappointed and a little more liberal.
