Wendy Spero: Take Your Mommy To Work Day
(Comedian Wendy Spero, author of the new book Microthrills: True Stories of Small Highs, is guest-blogging here all week.)
I once got my mother to agree to perform with me. In front of, like, 400 people at this large show in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Before we went on, she kept insisting it wasn’t funny enough. “I just don’t understand why this is funny, Wendy.” When we got off stage, after the performance, she turned to me and was like, “I could have been up there for hours!” And for months she’d ask if we could expand the bit and possibly go on the road. Here’s a video of the very short performance.
