1900: The ruggedly handsome and quick-witted team of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (Robert LeRoy Parker and Harry Longabaugh) commit their first robbery together, taking First National Bank in Winnemucca, Nevada for $32,640 while Burt Bacharach sings the upbeat Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head.
1928: Movie audiences are introduced to Mickey Mouse in his animated short debut, Steamboat Willy. The success of this film leads to the mouse's alcohol and morphine addiction and subsequent mysterious poolside death outside a Hollywood party. He is later replaced by Alfonso Mouse, a Mexican refuge and indentured servant of the Disney studio.
1959: Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev is barred from Disneyland for public urination and indecent exposure on Main Street, USA.
Happy birthday to actor Adam West. The man who brought dignity back to Batman turns 78 today.
