Freak Show Campus Tour – NYU
Last Wednesday more than a hundred New York University students descended on the Kimmel Center to watch an advance screening of Freak Show a full week ahead of its network debut (10/4 10:30p / 9:30c).
They were treated to laughs o' plenty from Comedy Central's band of animated carnival oddities. If you can get laughs from a bunch of jaded New York college students on a Wednesday evening, it's a good sign.
Next, show co-creators David Cross and H. Jon Benjamin led a Q&A for the undergrads. The first question was for David, as the anonymous inquirer "didn't know who Benjamin was." This led to uncomfortable yet hilarious banter between the two, remniscent of Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe's early vaudeville days.
Cross schooled the kids that Jon was "the can of beans in 'Wet Hot American Summer,' eliciting a collective "OOOH" and giggles from crowd.
After fielding the usual questions about "the process" one girl asking if the duo would star in her student film, to which Cross and Benjamin agreed to with the enthusiasm reserved for tetanus shots. We'll let you know if that happens.
