Jefferson on the ropes…

In Louisiana, Congressman William Jefferson is mired in a rough 3-way race for reelection, with the results still too close to call.  Jefferson's ethical troubles have dogged him throughout the campaign.  He is currently under investigation by the FBI for taking bribes, and surveillance cameras caught him looting a RiteAid in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Arizona: HOT…

Sources on the ground in Arizona say that the sexual tension between Senator Jon Kyl and challenger Jim Pederson is becoming unbearable … The polls had Kyl far ahead a month ago, but Pederson has since closed the gaps by spending some of his personal fortune on the race.  The major issue in the race has been immigration policy.  Pederson has proposed killing all illegal immigrants, while Kyl also advocates peeing on their corpses.

Missouri: Still breathing…

In Missouri, Senator Jim Talent appears to be narrowly leading Democratic challenger Claire McCaskill.  While McCaskill is an impressive candidate, the initial favorite among Missouri Democrats was deceased Governor Mel Carnahan, who handily beat John Ashcroft in 2000.  Carnahan did not respond to the request, leaving the field open for McCaskill.
