I was thinking in the shower the other day and I wondered if Elliott Smith's suicide was an homage to the "Citizen Kane" sketch from Kids in the Hall. Or maybe even his death was the accidental result of re-enacting the sketch by himself. It's possible. I once punched someone in the eye while performing the State's "Porcupine Racetrack" in my living room.

I guess I should probably explain that the water in my shower stimulates some sort of weird logic puzzle activation. Like one time I spent an extra 10 minutes in there wondering about the order of the lyrics in the chorus of "We're an American Band."**

Anyway, I told my friend Matt about the Citizen Kane/Elliott Smith thing and he couldn't remember the sketch. So here it is.

More after the jump!

The outstanding and potentially eye-poking "Porcupine Racetrack" would have been posted here, but its been removed from YouTube. I assume this has something to do with the State episodes being sold on iTunes now. So you're gonna have to act this out, Elliott Smith style, using this script.

**Because if it's "We're coming to your town/We like to party down," that's like an invitation. They're saying, "We're coming over, so you know, hook us up! Come party with us! We love to party."

But if it's "We like to party down/We're coming to your town," that's more of a warning, right? It's like, "Hey, we totally party wherever we go, and we're coming to your place, so watch out."

It's an important differentiation. But I'd rather not know the answer. I'd rather categorize people by their opinion of the correct version. Like people who sing it one way are laid back dudes, and people who sing it the other way shouldn't be left alone in a room with your stash or your little sister.
