The Onion News Network, which "has set the standard for globe-encompassing 24-hour television news since it was founded in December, 1892" has finally arrived. And from the looks of the first few videos up there, it looks really effing exciting.

If you're familiar with the Onion's fake written news, it shouldn't come as any surprise that its fake video news isn't going to be playing in quite the same field as the Daily Show. While TDS covers actual news events irreverently, the Onion's video news (more after the jump) seems to be much less reality-based and much more surreal. Again, should come as no surprise.

Granted, neither can compare to the majesty of Fox News' 1/2 Hour News Hour. But, c'mon, that's aiming for the moon.
