When our friends at Best Week Ever told us about Alanis Morissette's ironic video cover of the Black Eyed Peas' "My Humps", our first reaction was to not watch it, fearing that it, like the original, would never leave our heads. But then we watched it (along with the rest of the internet yesterday) and, like, wow! It's kind of sad and funny at the same time!
Anyway, there's a rich history of making pop songs funny by covering them slowly and seriously or in the style of another performer. Here are just three of my favorites:
* The "original" version of Oops I Did it Again, by the legendary Louis Armstrong (free mp3 download, hilarious)
* Michael Idov's cover of GG Allin's "I Kill Everything I F**k" (NSFW, free mp3 download)
* Ben Folds' cover of Dr. Dre's "Bitches Ain't Sh*t" (NSFW, Live video — look for the mp3 — I actually listen to this on my ipod all the time.)
These are just a few, obviously - feel free to share your favorite funny song covers in the comments.

I should have called wierd Al- remember "Big Banana" b-a-n-a-n-a-s I would do a dance and sing "big vagina?" v-a-g-i-n-a-s speaking of which- the other night my girl friend is directing music with her feet saying something about how it opens up her third eye, whatever that means, and how all women have a hole inside that needs to be filled. Is this some kind of new-wave California thing?
Clem Snide's cover of Xtina's Beautiful is so good it made me like the original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMIK22Iusd4
I guess that doesn't count though, because it's actually a pretty earnest cover of a pretty earnest song.
For funny, The Gourd's Gin and Juice is always good for a laugh and some toe-tapping.
