Blackadder3_1Before Hugh Laurie was known in the U.S. as maverick diagnostician genius Gregory House, M.D., he was a staple in British comedy, most famous for his collaborations with fellow actor/writer/wit Stephen Fry. Their joint projects including A Bit of Fry and Laurie, Jeeves and Wooster and Blackadder are still quoted by dweeby Anglophiles to this day.

Which is why we're happy to report that old Hughie as received the hono(u)r of Officer of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. From the Queen herself at Buckingham Palace, he did. No, that does not mean you get to call him "Sir Hugh," but it's close (about two levels shy). Closer than you or I will ever get.
