As you probably saw, last night Stephen Colbert gave Bill Clinton and Knox College whatfor, after the school gave an honorary doctorate to the former President only a year after bestowing the same honor on Colbert. In response, Stephen attempted to burn his degree.

This morning, a Knox representative chimed in on Colbert's firebug tendencies:

Later in the segment, Colbert threw his fireproof honorary degree at a life-size replica of Clinton and the piece of steel lodged in the figure's abdomen area.

"This is directed at Knox College, not at Bill Clinton," Colbert said.

Karrie Heartlein, director of public relations at Knox, said this morning the college was a "little worried" about Colbert and his propensity for violence and setting things on fire.

In case you missed it, here's a clip of the attempted arson:

Steve (phen),

As you, I am unworthy of an accolade from Knox. I will be inducted into their athletic Hall of Fame this weekend, and wish you to introduce me, as you are eqaully, unqualified to be bestowed an honor unworthy or your accomplishments.

Understanding your busy shedule, I will settle for a spontaneous simulcast, at your effort and expense, of course. Yet, will be mutally rewarding, of course.

Yours Sincerely,

A true Graduate

I'm still wondering how many tries that took (and if there was more than one Foam Core Clinton) and if Stephen was aiming for anyplace in particular.

i'm glad to be living in a country where disemboweling a former leader in effigy is not only tolerated, but widely supported. seriously; that's not sarcasm. this was funny.
