Chicago Tribune foreign correspondent and recent Colbert Report guest Evan Osnos posted his own guide to surviving an interview with Stephen. Here are some of his more useful tips, should you ever find yourself staring at His Truthiness across the table:

"Guests who try to talk over Colbert or beat him at his own game inevitably end up sounding shrill or unhinged. The audience — which lined up to see Colbert, not you — will let you wallow in lonesome silence while they wait for him to make it funny again. Remember: He doesn't embarrass his guests. If he did, he wouldn't be able to get anyone to appear on his show. If guests are embarrassed, they usually do it themselves. "
