On make-believe

"I have these certain things in my apartment in New York that come alive at night. I have a rabbit, and a beautiful old puppet, and they all have characters and they all have names, they all come alive at night. But I always make it like they hate me or they make fun of me, or something really queer. It's a lot of fun.

"I don't find that crazy. I think it's crazy if you don't do that… Like a dustpan. I have one that looks like it comes alive at night. It's old, it's metal, it wings out, it's gorgeous. What's wrong giving it a life? I know it's not real… But it's fun to be able to play that."
