I don't see what the problem is with Stewart's interview. I didn't anything different than what he has done with people who's beliefs and premises he's disagreed with before. I suppose because this is a "comedy" show Stewart is supposed to be "pleasant and agreeable" all the time? In my opinion, anything that you write and put out in public is subject to criticism, and you have to expect that not everyone agrees with you.
And in the end, was Matthews really hurt by this? Look at how many people who didn't even know he wrote a book are going to hear about how he was "berated" by Stewart and develop an interest. It seems that both The Daily Show and Chris Matthews come out winners for Stewart's questioning.
>>"Jon Stewart should apologize publicly for his berating of Chris Matthews."
It's a comedy news show. He asked some tough (funny & very pertinent) questions and made some jokes. The guy still managed to heavily plug his book.
The USA needs more people like Jon Stewart in the mainstream media – politicians and pundits are constantly asked ridiculously tame questions by tame interviewers who are scared of being "controversial".

This interview was appalling. Jon Stewart should apologize publicly for his berating of Chris Matthews. It's one thing to say, "I disagree with the premise of your book." It's quite another to interrupt the guest, mock what he's saying with smart-alecky comments and not let him finish his sentences. What happened here to the normally funny, pleasant and interesting Jon Stewart?

Brilliant! Some of Stewart's best work.
