Last night taping began for Comedy Central's Live at Gotham series in New York City. Of course the night would not be complete without danger zones of crumbling ceiling, seductive cookie trays, and backstage interviews with some of our favorite comics. The special won't be airing until June, but check back towards the springtime for exclusive web clips which shall reveal some dark secrets of the trade and tips for aspiring comedians.
Fancy behind-the-scenes pictures and whatnot after the jump.
We faced some challenges.
But rest easy, dear reader, in the end we finished without loud drilling as background music. And the ceiling was craftily repaired.
First one in the hot seat was Jim Norton. He shared some scandalous stories from the road and the amount of sacrifice and poor fashion choices it takes to make it as a stand up comedian. The conversation was very stimulating.
Next was the inimitable Jeff Dunham (and Walter). Jeff talked about where his ideas for puppets come from, and we learned that he is actually a really nice guy, despite what Walter says.
Jeff revealed some failed puppets (hint: talking meatballs are only funny in theory) and at what age you should embark on a career in ventriloquism.
Point being – there are many funny people to see at Live at Gotham. If you hurry there are tickets still available for Tonight, Saturday, and Sunday!
I'd opine that talking meatballs are hilarious on adult swim.
