In accordance with our committment to excellence what follows is a continuation of my Insider account of Comedy Central's Live at Gotham series in New York City.

The special won't be airing until June, but check back towards the springtime for exclusive web clips which shall reveal some dark secrets of the trade and tips for aspiring comedians.

Day 2: March 7th 2008

Ralphie May arrived to talk to us despite having pneumonia. And NOW you tell me Airborne doesn’t work!

Ralphie revealed that every comic has something called a “Hell Gig,” which sounds a lot like that show “Hell Date” (which is awesome)

Ralphi cares so much about giving back to comedy that he has gone to Finland to help nurture comics in the burgeoning scene. From what we've heard, there are not too many… but Ralphie hopes to change this.

Tommy Davidson was our next subject, and definitely has an interesting life story to share – from being raised in a hippie commune, to attending culinary school, to performing stand-up from a diving board. These stories and more to be elaborated upon future video clips.

And lest we forget: The Greatest Comedy Special of all time?

The jury is out… but we think Tommy agrees.

Stay tuned for Days 3 and 4….
