Chris Farley's brother Tom has written a new biography of the late SNL star called The Chris Farley Show, and the NW Indiana Times has a short piece about it today with this excerpt:
As original "SNL" member Chevy Chase relates in the book, he warned the younger comic to shape up or wind up a sad footnote.
"I sat with him, and I said, 'Look, you're not John Belushi,' " Chase recalled. " 'And when you overdose or kill yourself, you will not have the same acclaim that John did. You don't have the record of accomplishment that he had. You don't have the same background that he had. And you don't have the same cultural status that he had. … You're just going to end up being an overweight guy who could fall on his stomach and had one or two funny things in his career but nothing that ever really stood out. You'll be a blip in the New York Times obituaries page and that'll be it. Is that what you want?"
The book will be in stores on May 6 and will make me very sad. Meanwhile, after the jump, there's a classic Farley SNL sketch that will make you the opposite of very sad .
