Mike Judge Teams Up With the Living and the Not-so-much

After the disappointing neglect of Idiocracy, Mike Judge is ready to work with the living. He's teaming up with Jason Bateman to return to the workplace comedy that gave him cult fame. He will write and direct Extract, the first production for his new production company Ternian. Drawing on his Michael Bluth character, Bateman will play a boss of a flower extract operation, who's trying to accommodate a shifting workplace.
We hope Extract gets a better release than Idiocracy, which opened as an in-flight movie to Ulan Bator and at the Motel 6 in Bakersfield.
Judge, who has often expressed his preference for cartoons, will also return to animation. He's producing episodes for The Goode Family, a new animated series about a family of compulsive do-gooders, which will premier on ABC early 2009.
