Variety reports that HBO has bought a partial stake in Funny or Die. As part of their deal, they have commissioned 10 half-hours (known outside of the industry as "five hours," or a penta-hour) of comic programming. There is also talk of HBO lending support to the website's comedy tours, and is open to Funny or Die-related content on different HBO channels.

This is a good sign that cable channels are tying into internet properties to expand their base, and there are some natural combinations I'd like to see:
