Daily Show Summer Blockbuster Comedy Collision: Mike Myers and Steve Carell
There's an unspoken rule in Hollywood programming circles that you don't launch two big-name movies of a similar genre during the same weekend, but Paramount and Warner seem to be ignoring the usual protocols. Both Get Smart and The Love Guru continue their media junket onslaughts in full effect, including back-to-back bookings on The Daily Show this Wednesday and Thursday for Messrs. Steve Carell and Mike Myers respectively.
Myers fires a preemptive strike with this interview where he credits the inspiration for the guru Pitka character with his dad's death and spiritual counsel of Deepak Chopra. In other words, if you rag on The Love Guru, you're taking a smelly shit all over Myers' dead dad and religious beliefs. Nice going, cockadouche.
Meanwhile, Steve gets the following props from Anne Hathaway:
"Steve Carell is just the most wonderful, squishy, muffiny, pumpkin, rock star, amazing person you'll ever meet."
Got that? Assail Get Smart and you're drowning Anne Hathaway's unicorn rainbow puppies. You're such a taint-face.
What's it going to be, people? Who's going to walk away with the title of #1 Movie AND Comedy in America come Monday?
