Actually, as far as Band Candy goes, it could still be a nod, albeit a premature nod as far as viewers go. Alyson would have most likely already either filmed American Pie or at least gotten the part and read the script. So it could still be in reference to the movie.

i can't remember exactly which episode, but i know it was season 3, when spike comes back and is upset over loosing drucilla, and he's in the Summer's kitchen talking to joyce, when angel shows up at the door…

one of the absolute funniest scene's ever! go watch it!

spike: "you can't come in, YOU'RE not invited!"…priceless.

Gotta agree with anyone who's mentioned "Earshot" — that's still one of my favorite ever episodes. Oz's hysterical internal monologue contrasted with what actually comes out of his mouth was just pants-peeingly funny.

Internally (paraphrased), "I am my thoughts. If they exist in her, Buffy contains everything that is me and she becomes me. I cease to exist."

Out loud, "Huh."

And Willow's, "Buffy did the reading? Buffy *understood* the reading?" and the random thoughts of some of the people at the school are brilliant, too, like with that guy who was wearing the *very* oversized pants thinking, "I swear, one of these days my pants are just going to fall right off!"

That whole episode had me losing control.

No one has mentioned th first Halloween ep, with the costumes? (I leant my box o' Buffy, and can't recall th title.) That's one of my faves, esp for the humor.

Giles's (pronounced "Gileseseseses" — like nemisiseses) face at Wil's "ghost" costume. Buffy being ditzy and worthless; Wil telling Cordy "You're not really a cat!" Buffy's first glimpse of "demons" (faints, and Wil wakes her, saying they need Buffy "Who?" Xand: "Who's Buffy?" Wil: "Oh, this is going to be fun.")

I mean, come ON — as Spike says "This is just NEAT!"

BBB not a fave. Of th other picks, Yes, I lik them, too. I would hav put Hush, and The Joan & Randy Show. Also A New Man — Spike encouraging Gils to go with his ragey feelings.

Of course, there are thousands of moments and scenes — When Faith swaps bodies with Buf, and B goes to Gileseseses house; that ENTIRE scene of her first xplaining to him, then Wil & Tara explaining to HER what's going on. Priceless!

BTW, in response to anothr comment, about Zeppo; that's part of th humor — while th gang is fighting th hell-mouth beast, Xander's zaniness is going on. (The dead guy looking in th library, "COOL!")

Hush has at least as much humor as any ep — from "I've gone deaf" through Riley breaking the wrong thing (and th infamous gestures!) I usually love great dialog more than anything, but that show is funNY.

I also agree with othrs about The Three Dufii (Nerds of Doom); and Him (Spike tackling Buffy gts me EVERY time!)

no one has mentioned "Storyteller"??? I kind of love Andrew and his "slayer of the vampIEers" also agree with all the "Something Blue" and "Tabula Rasa" comments. Also anything Oz "nobody deserves a mime"

I thought Giles best bit in Band Candy was the last few frames in the call back scene in the episode Earshot (where Buffy can read minds).

Buffy – "Sure, we could work-out after school, you know, if you‚Äôre not too busy having sex with my mother!"

Giles – "Ow." (Having just walked into a tree.)

BBB is my favorite funny episode. I would definitely remove Beer bad and probably replace it with Dopplegangland.

LOL @ NO MORE COPPER RE-PIPE! I forgot about that. I think because for my funniness, I find myself watching the first 4 seasons. Did no one else find LIVING CONDITIONS hilarious? I mean COME ON. Picking up toe nail clippings? Little half moon shapes all over your body?

Hi Giles, Buffy's gone homicidal…so I sent her to you? OK?!

I really don't count Dracula vs. Buffy in there, hell I wouldn't even count that in my top 10. For me it's more about Buffy discovering her dark side then anything else.

Are we also forgetting The Puppet Show??

I was also going to go with Life Serial, mostly because Sarah was just insanely funny, she had me in stitches. I kind of think we (or most) underestimate Sarah's comedic abilities, we always think Xander or even Willow for the funny.

One addendum: In compiling my list, I tried to confine it strictly to episodes which are mainly about the comedy. While 'Beer Bad' remains one of my favorite Buffy episodes ever, I left it off the list because of its underlying issues regarding Buffy and Parker and Parker's attitude towards their one-night-stand in 'The Harsh Light of Day'. I also left episodes like 'Something Blue', 'Earshot', 'Tabula Rasa', and 'Once More, With Feeling' off my list for the same reasoning: they're not strictly about the comedy.
