In the Rochambeau world of comedy record-setting, German comic Mario Barth handily shattered Chris Rock's recent record for comedy attendance. In July, Rock set a record of 15,900 fans watching him in London, setting a world record that we didn't realize existed. But just as Barry Bonds* shat on Roger Maris' home run record, Rock's accomplishment has been eclipsed by Mario Barth, with an inconsiderately huge 70,000 person audience showing up for his show at Berlin's Olympic Stadium. Breaking Rock's record by 4 times is sort of like Barry Bonds* having smashed the home run record by hitting only grand slams.

Barth's routine, a groundbreaking effort called "Men are Primitive but Happy," is filled with piquant observational humor about how men like beer and women enjoy shopping.

It's obvious that this record will not stand, and Barth has only now set off a global arms race to provide stand-up. The day of the nightclub is over: From now on, comedy will only be performed at football stadiums, states of the Great Plains, Central American countries, and Wal-mart Super Ultra Mega Stores.
