According to The Consumerist, Circuit City demanded stores "destroy all copies" of the latest MAD magazine.  It seems MAD went too far in this vulgar parody.  Circuit City provides the world with affordable electronics and the hottest new release dvds. What have you ever done, Usual Gang of Idiots?

When Newsarama contacted Circuit City about the story, they promptly apologized.  Apparently, some "suits" over-reacted. I guess censorship isn't "hip" with their key demographics.

Babb said only 40 of Circuit City's 700 stores sell magazines, then added in self-spoofing style: "As a gesture of our apology and deep respect for the folks at MAD Magazine, we are creating a cross-departmental task force to study the importance of humor in the corporate workplace and expect the resulting PowerPoint presentation to top out at least 300 pages, chock full of charts, graphs and company action plans. In addition, I have offered to send the MAD Magazine editor a $20 Circuit City gift card toward the purchase of a Nintendo Wii….if he can find one!"

I respect Circuit City for it's maverick pseudo-fascism, and now also for their newfound sense of humor. Also, Circuit City sells MAD magazines? That was the most surprising part of the news story.
