All this week, The Daily Show's Rob Riggle will be covering the Olympics from China. The real China, not the green-screen China, which is incidentally hosting the Green-Screen Olympics this week. The first segment aired last night and Rob did a bang-up job being hilarious. He wasn't able to work in a pee-pee-in-coke joke, but I have high hopes for tonight's show.

Nothing against Rob. But as a Chinese American, I find some of his jokes offensive (i.e. "ching", "squinty eyes"). Is it impossible to make comedy without bringing up racial stereotypes? I understand that Rob is trying to make fun of what is "politically correct", but playing up racial stereotype is still inappropriate and vulgar. If it is not okay to make fun of African Americans in racial terms, then why is it acceptable to make fun of the Chinese in similar terms? The racist undertone in this video is definitely not funny.
I understand that the jokes were offensive, you're wholly entitled to that. Just wanted to point out, however, that he DID make fun of African Americans in racial terms earlier in the video.
Personally, I don't think he's making fun of what is politically correct but instead making fun of being ignorant.
I had the same feeling and found the jokes stupid and offensive. If that was all he got to make people laugh, he's not deserved to be on the Daily Show.
Well, I'm neither asian or black, but I'll agree w/ bystander, the whole squinty eyes was cheap. The Niger joke was more subtle.
oh come on he was hilarious, you guys just have no sense of humor, if you get offended every time someone makes a "cheap shot" at your ethnicity you've got serious problems
When we watched the clip, we laughed at how ridiculous racism can sound. Try not to be offended, as I don't think the remarks were intended to make fun of Chinese or Nigerians, but the ignorant people who think of them in terms of ethnic slang and stereotypes.
Very funny. The people who get offended at jokes like these lack basic intelligence and have no senses of humor. It was all in good taste and was not used in any negative, derogatory way. If you can't laugh at yourself, you shouldn't be allowed to laugh at anything. It's just race… it's just religion… we're all humans… get over it… and laugh.
And by the way Bystander, the racial slur you are referring to ends with a "k", not a "g".
Don't get too offended. If you hadn't noticed the whole segment focused on his portrayal as an crazy, incompetent 'journalist' than China.
Um, the humor is contained in the fact that it's offensive and unsubtle. Though the Niger joke was better. Personally I thought the funniest part was him saying, deadpan, "I'll fucking come down there and end your life."
I like the work he did. It was racial but in a clumsy oafish way. He isn't acting as a racist but as a big dumbass who can't help but trip up on sensitive issues.
If you are really offended (and probably young), I highly recommend going to youtube and checking out some Archie Bunker clips from the show All in the Family.
Second night clip was great, showing ROB playing tennis with Chinese kid, eating KFC with Chinese girls, I think it's so cute, and making good humour connections between Americans and Chinese.
Oh, and I am Chinese.
Some of that, I think, is in reference to the photos that Spain's bball team took of themselves making squinty eyes.

the basis of the clip was that this is offensive, thats the joke.
I'm glad some of you get offended, your too stupid to see he's making fun of ignorance. I have always found it funny the thinking behind bigots, that tolerance is completely unacceptable. However people who feel like they are being discriminated against have no tolerance either. To bring up the race card EVERYTIME someone seems even a little bit offensive is what the bigots feed off of, so consider yourself part of the problem and not the solution.
