The only person on this list who I think could come close is Spacey, but even that is a stretch. The person needs to be able to pull off a kind of arrogance, which Crowe probably could, but he's too much of a meathead (yes, i know he played a genius in A Beautiful Mind, but it was a lukewarm performance).

I agree with those who say they should cast a relative unknown. Nobody in Hollywood has the personality to play Hicks, nor do they have the acting skill to fake it. Besides that, if they get someone famous it will just wouldn't feel right. Having a megastar portray a relatively underground real-life comedian is just bass-ackwards.

Why no mention of Eddie Izzard? He's damned funny and he CAN act, unlike a few of the names on that list.

They may have known each other (hell, I don't know?), they have similar features, kinda the same ilk, definitely the same region … and I think Bill may have at least NOT wanted to stab a lit cigarette into his own eye if it was him. (Yes, I met him a few times in Houston, but I was not a "friend" – I was barely an acquaintance; he knew my brother)

T.Shawn at least has a stage presence, but I don't know if he can act in a dramatic fashion. He was hell on stage when I saw him years ago.

if they get an already famous actor to play Bill Hicks, people who otherwise never would have heard about Bill will be turned on to all the amazing thins he had to say.

if a nobody-actor plays Bill, then nobody will go see the movie accept Hicks fans. and Bills message will still go unnoticed by the mainstream once again.

having bill portrayed WELL on the screen and spreading his message of love, laughter & truth is more important than making sure the actor isn't famous and doesn't get paid a lot.

Bill hated Hollywood and he hated money, but it takes money to make a fucking movie, and they could make a fucking GREAT movie that a lot of people would watch if someone like Phillip Seymour Hoffman played Hicks.

Versus the miniscule amount of people who would go and see the movie if it had a bunch of no-name actors in it.

I would like the entire world to know what Bill had to say during his time on earth, it might change some people's behavior like it did for me. Then maybe the world could become a better place.

Please take Kate Blanchett off of the list, I don't care if she played Bob Dylan, no woman could ever do "The Pussy Eating Skit" and no woman could ever talk about sucking their own dick and make it believable. Sorry, but anybody on the list would be wonderful accept her.

Seriously, Who wants another penguin, riddler, mr. freeze or another poison ivy? I'd settle for a Bane if they gave him a better story, but christ, what can they do to make this next batman movie as good as TDK?

The man is a fine actor but it seems that every time a "fantasty casting" comes up for an immersive, character role, PHS's name gets thrown in the bucket and declared as "OMG perfect."

tool's Aenima was basically an ode to him, and arizona bay WAS an ode to him.
