It turns out Jesse Thorn of the wonderful Sound of Young America program was not messing around when he named his website MaximumFun.org, because he's putting on a three day event next year that cannot be described as anything less than fun at its most maximized level.
Featuring the likes of John Hodgman, Jonathan Coulton and Hard 'N Phirm, the MaxFunCon website describes the shindig thusly:
MaxFunCon is a convocation of awesome people who seek to become more awesome.
MaxFunCon is a destination vacation — a chance to luxuriate in the mountains of Southern California and be entertained by world class funny people.
MaxFunCon is a place to learn — how to make something, how to do something, how to be more awesome.
MaxFunCon is, above all, a coming together. We hope you will make your new best friends here.
Bullshit
aside, MaxFunCon is an intimate, weekend-long gathering created by
MaximumFun.org, the web community and online home of the public radio
program The Sound of Young America, its blog, and its affiliated
podcasts. Join us June 12th through 14th, 2009, and be entertained, informed and befriended.
The website does not specifically say whether the attendees will all climb aboard a comet bound for heaven at the weekend's close.
Best of all it's only $590 if you register before December 1, and that price includes lodging, food, drinks and hottubs. So, what's to stop you from signing me up and paying my way? I promise I'll write a really fantastic blog-post about it when I get back.
*For the sake of cleverness, the title of this post is directed toward actress Connie Sellecca.
