Stephen Chow, best known outside of Chinese and Hong Kong movie dweeb circles for Shaolin Soccer and Kung
Fu Hustle, got the green light to direct and co-star as Kato in the upcoming
Green Hornet movie. Seth Rogen, who shares writing credits with Evan Goldberg,
is set to play the titular character.

Chow's been jonesing hard for the part, especially since the
60's TV series featured his idol Bruce Lee (The Green Hornet is known as The
Kato Show in Hong Kong). Though Rogen's
involvement has already drawn the ire of old-school fans, I'm looking forward
to a comedic treatment. A masked detective who employs a karate-chopping Asian houseboy/driver
doesn't exactly spell gravitas.
