I meant to post this interview on Friday, but I started wondering whatever happened to Jive Bunny and the Master Mixers, and then while I was looking it up, I got an email forward with a link to a funny YouTube video of a chinchilla taking a bath with a bullfrog, which reminded me that I had been wanting to Twitter about a Tumblr post I read about a new iPhone application that let's you watch vlogs while you IM. Long story short, I ended up getting into a pretty heated message board argument about whether Eva Mendes could beat Martin Van Buren at Mario Kart.

@ Mark Bondurant

Congrats, you just revealed yet another false dilemma. So if we can as individuals realize who and/or what is framing our debates, our pros and cons, our interest and non-interest, collective intelligence will improve.

It's not making us dumber. It's making us realize just how dumb we are.

@ TodYouDouche

You can't even figure out the comment system… that wasn't my comment you idiot. If you had an iq higher than a rat, you would realize the comments are ABOVE the person's name… Not below it you moron.

We have Al Gore to blame for this internet thing… Oh how dumb we will be.. In due time.. Back to COD4….

This guy can't read more than 2 paragraphs at a time? …isn't that his problem? Why does he generalize it?

Anyhow, what about the people who create the internet? or those who play or make video games like scorpst said?

Focus is really not difficult.

stephen was doing a good job of personifying the author's thesis, but i don't think carr knew how to roll with it. i kind of wished he'd have had more of a chance to talk about it… i'm very interested in his ideas.

also i seriously doubt that was really ray kurzweil who just said "rubbish" up there. if so, shouldn't you be taking 20 pills right now and helping the singularity along somehow? or is this all part of the plan?

The definition of stupid is the opposite of intelligent.

Posted by MC on September 30, 2008 at 1:50 am

All of you foreign idiots do know who Colbert is, right? His show is on Comedy Central Network! It is supposed to be funny!!! He acts like this with every author that comes on his show, this is nothing new. Try to watch his other episodes.

Posted by Donnie on September 30, 2008 at 1:27 am

@ John Bull: New to Colbert, eh?

Posted by Jeremy on September 30, 2008 at 1:27 am

The Internet might be making individuals dumber, but it is certainly making our collective much much smarter.

Posted by John Bull on September 30, 2008 at 1:18 am

The guest is trying to make some interesting and valid points only for the moron 'host' to just talk over him throughout.

Only in America…

This is why people need to play video games. Some games you can sit down and play, and then suddenly 3 to 10 hours have past. Video games actually help your mind focus.

Play More Video Games!
