BAM: Brides Against Monsters – Coming to NYC's Magnet Theater
I just spent the past twenty minutes scouring around the Internet looking for footage of Magnet Theater's BAM (Jon Bander, Alan Fessenden and Alex Marino) sketch group performing live on stage.
That didn't work out too well for me, so I then took another ten minutes looking for a picture of them I could use in this post.
Nothing. (Nice publicity machine, you guys have there.)
Nope. In the end, I decided to steel the album cover from Steely Dan's live album "Alive in America" to use. Why? Well, for one, Steely Dan is an awesome post-jazz fusion rock band, and that album represented a return to performing together after years and years of separation. And BAM — despite being lousy marketers and one of them still owing me $10 (you know who you are) — are an awesome post-improv sketch group, and this show represents a return to performing together after months and months of not performing onstage together.
(Okay, the real reason is that the show is called "Brides Against Monsters," and that was the first image that popped into my head.)
I've worked with these guys before, and I can assure you that they're all really funny and really talented and that one of them still owes me $10. What more reason do you need to see a live comedy show?
