Top 10 Funniest CC Insider Blog Posts of 2008
Starting today, the entire internet is devoted to quickly making Top Lists. And we here at CC insider are no different. Looking back at the year in blog, I became nostalgic for those crazy days when making a McCain joke still seemed relevant and vital. How quaint. McCain jokes aside, hopefully this list proves we are some funny mofos.
It is with amazing humility and love that I bring you the Top 10 Funniest Blog Posts of 2008:
10. Polishing The Turd: The Love Guru
At the height of the summer movie season, Ian Cooper took lemons and made them into a funny blog post based on how much those lemons sucked. By now, everyone's on board "The Love Guru was awful" train, but before all that, Ian took a brave stand and dared to be different. Just kidding. Everyone always knew that movie was awful.
9. Unintentional Comedy: Finally, Someone Has Invented a Means of Walking!
Dennis DiClaudio found the perfect Christmas gift, and posted it months in advance so we could all order some before they sold out. Thanks, Dennis.
8. World's Oldest LOLcat Discovered?
Aside from blogging, Matt Tobey also enjoys archeological digs in ancient Egyptian pyramids. In discovering the world's true oldest LOLcat, Matt got to combine his two loves to make this amazing blog post.
After the jump, I continue counting down the Top 10 Funniest Posts of 2008.
7. The Jonas Brother's New Movie Will Stink (And Other Fart Puns)
If it wasn't for my false modesty, this list would be called Top 10 Funniest CCInsider Blog Posts Written By Gonzalo That Made You Wanna Marry Him. Fortunately, one of the commenters on this Jonas brothers related post was able to express how awesome I am without my even mentioning it, "i love you so much i justn want 2 get married and have 1000 kids with you."
I assume that comment was directed towards me and not the Jonas brothers and I base this on one fact; I am the only human male physically able to father 1,000 kids in a single pregnancy and I assume this commenter is my soulmate.
6. Exhaustive Archival Research Reveals the Original Barack Obama Joke, Courtesy of W. Kamau Bell
Eric March did an amazing job interviewing W. Kamau Bell. The best thing about it though is that Bell had a joke about Obama back in 2005. That's like one million years ago. Back then most humans hadn't sufficiently evolved the capacity for tools, but Bell was already talking about this past election.
5. Unexpected Comedy: The Five Funniest Politicians
A list within a list? How po-mo of me. Jeff Barnosky wrote this amazing post. Who knew politics could be rendered funny somehow? Not me that's for sure.
Another list within a list? The world is folding into itself. G. Xavier Robillard brings us the best of the best Pirate jokes. They are surprisingly fun to make up on your own. Do you know why pirates don't appreciate Kanye West? They don't think he has any good hooks, argh, matey, etc.
3. The Indecision Bloggers Live on Stage (in a Video)
Even though this was technically on Indecision's blog first, this was one of my fondest memories of the past year. It was really fun being on stage, and, as you can tell from the video, I don't know where to stand at first. Matt Tobey, Eric March and a bunch of us Insider bloggers are on stage as well, so finally, you have faces to pin to our amazing list-worthy posts.
2. What Do We Make Fun of Now?
This one was written by me. I'm not putting it in #2 because I think it was the second best post written from 2008, but because I ask a question in it which was promptly answered by Matt in the actual #1 post of the entire year. That's a pretty good segue to the last entry on our list, eh?
1. What's the Difference Between 9/11 and Barack Obama?
Matt called bullshit when bullshit wasn't being called. Every know and then I still stumble upon a news article claiming, "comedy is dead with Obama," and I think to myself, "didn't they read Matt Tobey's post about this bullshit?" This should be forwarded to every lazy newspaper columnist ever.
HONORABLE MENTION: Every blog post ever written by any of us at CC Insider. We all win!
