COMEDY CENTRAL is stocking up on the ammo and bringing out its big guns when it roasts comedian Larry the Cable Guy. The hits will be dirty, fast and hard. Larry will be making the night unfor-git-able during this star-studded evening, which will tape in Los Angeles on March 1, 2009. The "COMEDY CENTRAL Roast of Larry The Cable Guy" will air on Sunday, March 15 at 10:00 p.m.
"It is an honor that COMEDY CENTRAL has chosen me to be roasted. Only a handful of folks have been dumb enough to accept. And believe me, I'm pretty dumb! I'm looking forward to this about as much as I am to a prostate check with a doctor with a hook arm," said Larry the Cable Guy.
"Larry is an incredible sport who knows how to laugh at himself — which is will come in handy when he is being pummeled by our illustrious roasters. This is taking roasting to the next level," said Elizabeth Porter, SVP, specials and talent, COMEDY CENTRAL.

Cheryl hit the point right on the nose. Larry the Cable Guy is a satirical comic poking fun of his fans and comedians like him. He is a God of comics. I just can't wait until CC cuts the BS and begins to play MADTV 24 hours a day and then once a month roasts these legends of Comedy. I personally think the next one should be John Ritter's corpse.

I love Larry the Cable Guy. I've seen all of his movies and think that they are hilarious. I am really looking forward to this one and hope it is as good as the roast of Jeff Foxworthy.
Not only is "Larry" NOT 100% Southern, but I also heard Rodney Dangerfield DID get respect on occasion, Foster Brooks and Dean Martin weren't always drunk, Lewis Black has been known to smile, Carlos Mencia IS funny sometimes, and what's more, many black comics actually like "white folks" AND were never pimps. I share your outrage at people in show business behaving like different people. I'll bet Kim Cattrall isn't the slut she "acts" like on TV or that Alec Baldwin isn't as dumb as he appears on 30 Rock.
Like many commenters here, I am outraged that show business "acts" are not to be taken 100% literally as they clearly prefer. What a ripoff.
Hopefully, with a new President we can begin taking EVERYTHING literally and at face value, without any requirement of thought by the type of people justifiably upset at this outrage.
Why not? Taking everything literally seems to work well for religious fundamentalists.
PS. Fart jokes are ONLY funny when done by Howard Stern, Sarah Silverman, Brian Posehn and other hipster approved comics. I think David Cross said this on Carson Daly once.

who thinks this dipsh*t is funny? I fart joke is funny, 2 1/2 hours of the same fart joke is lame. This guy isn't even southern, he's from nebraska or something. I know he's borderline retarded but the "good 'ol boy" act is just that.
So is this going to be an actual roast, or Blue Collar Comedy Tour 4? One would be funny; the other, not.
