There are a lot of things that make me sad. One thing that makes me sad are pound puppies. They are lovable puppies that need a home! What's not sad about that?

The other thing that makes me sad is when the end of something I love draws near. And as previously announced, this might be the final season of Flight of the Conchords. It seems they will be ending the series just as it's poised to become a mainstream hit.

The reason I'm bringing this up now is because as their marketing departments do what marketing departments do, I really believe this might be a breakout year for the series.  Besides the Lip Dub Fan contest and the first episode premiering on Funny or Die, there's also the announcement that a new Flight of the Conchord's song will be available on iTunes after each episode airs.

Billboard.com reported songs from the duo's second season will be made available on iTunes after each episode airs.

They will be followed by a 15-track album on April 14, the follow-up to last year's highly acclaimed self-titled debut.

The first song available will be Angels, from the first episode of the show's second season.

It will be available on iTunes on January 19, the day after it airs in America.

It's pretty safe to say, their popularity is growing, and that is directly related to the success of their TV show. As sad as I am to see it go after this season, I have to say, I really respect their decision to move forward with their careers.

It's very rare to see creators of a hit show (presumably this season will be a bigger hit than the last one) leave behind money, comfort, and acclaim in order to evolve artistically. I sincerely hope they keep creating amazing things even if it's not related to their HBO TV show.

What does any of this have to do iTunes picking up their songs? Umm… well nothing. It was just on my mind. So suck it!
