I was just revisiting this post and wanted to reply to Donna S. Garrison.

What's NOT funny about the word vagina?

I liked maybe 4 of all comedians in the top 20, Doug Benson, Tammy Pescatelli, Kirk Fox and Mitch Hedberg.

Kyle Cease was amazing.

Jeff dunham was funny the first time but after the first time it just gets lame.

And to Donna S. Garrison…

Its hilarious because he says like a vagina at the PERFECT time.

Great job! You definitely deserved this. I know you and you aren't letting what these people say bother you! And YOU SHOULDN'T! I am SO happy I was a part of this and had a hand (or finger for texting, ha) in helping you win. After going to Chicago to see you and all my friends saying, "Who is this Kyle Cease guy?? Is he really funny enough to make a trip to Chicago!?" the answer… absolutely. I would and probably will do it again too! And they NOW know who Kyle Cease is. He's the Standup Showdown champ, baby!!!!! Through me and all my non-stop Kyle campaigning, I've made your name well-known in my hometown! Your next show here will be a good one =)

I only saw the last 6 comedians, and all of those were very entertaining. Jeff Dunham is an extremely talented individual. Doug Benson was really good as well. But the main surprise for me was seeing Kyle Cease. I am just learning about the different stand-up comics. In my opinion, some of the best comedy takes place when a comic is able to kind of connect with their stream of consciousness, and share some of their crazy mind with the crowd. Kyle does this in a unique way, I really enjoyed his act thoroughly. I am actually going to look for any video or audio files I can buy of him. Good job, Kyle!

Congrats Kyle! I only got to vote a few times so I'm glad you won. Well deserved, and hopefully it leads to more television gigs. I know you had tight competition – I mean, who doesn't think that intellectual fare like a guy crapping his pants is the ultimate in hilarity? – so here's to fighting the good fight, and I raise a very dry martini in your honor. ^_~

i did watch the count-down kyle you are funny but i do think that thier were funnier. I am not a hater i think your good but, i dont get how you beat out some of the others. Now please understand i am in no way saying you suck, but i don't think you should have been #1.

This is Kyle. I know its weird if I am commenting on the blog written about me, but of course I am checking things out. This is very exciting for me and it is such an honor to be in the showdown with such legends….

I really know the career is going well when people are angry at you. So after reading the first two posts, I guess mission accomplished. I don't know anyone who gets to win a contest that many people don't get angry about.

I saw it happen with everyone who has won the showdown in the past, and everyone who

has won contests like American idol, and also Last Comic Standing. Everyone has their favorites and if their favorite don't win, anger hits whoever did win.

I think comedy is subjective and every comic is different and awesome. It is just fun to have a showcase of 20 great specials in a row.

Thanks to Comedy Central for letting me share my work. Looking forward to a great year. Congrats to all comics in the top 100, it is fun being in your company.

Kyle Cease

I second Emma on the subjectivity of comedy. I think that's the right rendering of the word anyway. My favorite half hour special of the night was actually Doug Benson. His timing and delivery just cracks me up. Robert Kelly is the guy who crapped himself. I don't laugh much at fart/poop jokes, but that doesn't mean he's not funny. It's just not for me. I guess Kyle just has a devoted enough fan base who cared enough about him to vote an INSANE amount of times. What does it mean for Kyle? who knows. But it was nice to see Dunham not win this year. Sorry Jeff.

It's not about wether you thought he was funny or not. Comedy is totally subjective. Just because you like one certain comedian doesn't mean you're going to like a different person's comedy. Many people (including myself) think Kyle is a really talented guy who deserves recognition for his work and he has loyal fans who love him. So don't be bitter. Jeff Dunham had last year, now it's Kyle's turn.

I agree with the recount – Kyle wasn't funny, and Jeff Dunham's act got old quick. How about #15, the guy in the tighty-whitey's who crapped on his girlfriend? Now THAT was funny!!!!

I want a recount. I watched Kyle Cease yesterday after he had won the Stand up Showdown and he was NOT funny. I didn't see the humor in his standup. What's so funny about saying a woman's private parts. Come on guys. Jeff Dunham was far funnier than Kyle was. Like I said, I WANT A RECOUNT.
