In honor of Charles Darwin turning 200 years young today (you don't look a day over 139, Chuck!), I've assembled some of the finest evolution-related clips from The Daily Show's history. I have to say though, I have some misgivings about this, because I don't believe I descended from some damn monkeys. No, I believe we all descended from space-pandas, like it says in The Bible.

For those of you outside the US, keep in mind that this sort of "controversy" really only occurs in backwater middle of nowhere towns. The VAST majority of US schools have no intentions of requiring creationism (intelligent design) to be taught in science classes.
The US media has blown this whole thing out of proportion. They latch onto it because anything that says "Religion vs Science" will always draw attention.

Question for "creationists"/"intelligent designists"/"teach-the-(non-existant)-controversyists": If it's really "all about science" with no religious belief attached then why is it that even though the principles of the Scientific Theory of Evolution are used in biology by millions of scientists arouind the world, the only country where any "controversy" exists is America? The answer is obvious: it IS all about religion!

For the record, Darwin never said we came from monkeys or apes. He said we both descended from one common ancestor. I hate it when people use that as an excuse not to believe.
I just did a Darwin update, check it out at http://www.fliesito.com

This was amazing. The only place on American TV save the Discovery Channel (and there, just sometimes) you'll see the proper understanding of evolution and its significance.

Isn't it a jewish creation myth if it's from the old testament? Didn't the jews borrow their flood myth from the Sumerians? Doesn't matter if it's the old or new testament, it's all made up. Parting of the Red Sea, total B.S.

Quit being so biased Jon!

All were funny except the one on Dayton. It made them look like a bunch of hicks but from my reading Scopes and many of his supporters were local and the town has moved on even renevating the court to it's original look and reenacting the trial. Two sides people!

In most highly educated countries around the world this isn't a debate. I feel sorry for The Daily Show for having to tred so lightly on this subject. They point out the fallacy of the idea of intelligent design and then conclude with, "But who knows?"
