As a STEREOTYPE, I reject all nonstereotypical things in favor of extremely stereotypical things. And, don't get me wrong, it feels great. But being a STEREOTYPE, I'm also a devout follower of STEREOTYPICAL THINGS.

Scientology destroys lives and families. XENU is the ENEMY of scientology. So Colbert is the new leader of the fight against scientology.
Here is an audio recording I made of a scientology "minister" beating a kid because the kid refused to do scientology brainwashing courses. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cl0QkAL8Vk BTW this guy was also accused of PEDOPHILIA. I guess thats what OT 8s can do with their super powers.

Scientology treats its members like garbage and tries to ruin the lives of its critics.

There's a million exposes on it by a million different journalists. Probably the most famous is the 1991 Time magazine cover story by Richard Behar. Google it.

Looks like the Scientology trolls found this one as well.

"Every religion is different. They all can be considered wired. I came across this YouTube channel. In all it seems like Scientology is not as far fitch as any-other religion. Link - http://www.youtube.com/ChurchofScientology

I guess at the end, every religion talks about treating each other with respect."

"Anonymous reminds me of the KKK with their mask and all.

At the end of the day why can’t we just all get along?"

And to the other churches that, let me add some emphasis, ASK their members to donate 10%, Scientology DEMANDS up to 80-90% from deeper members. Yeah, asking and demanding are *rolls eyes* the same thing.

Alice, hi! I can answer that.

I was brought up Catholic, spent 10 years an Anglican (Episcopalian in the US), another 10 years in Churches of Christ and my Dad is a Pentecostal minister. I have never known any church except Scientology to require payment before you can be told about their religion, or to demand thousands of dollars (and tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands eventually) from every member to learn about their own religion.

No christian church that I've ever heard of gets tax file numbers from people. I do know that if you want a tax deduction for your giving, some churches will let you use a code number so they can keep track of your donations and give you a tax receipt at the end of the year. But that's totally voluntary and, in my experience, no one except the church accountant would know who gave what. Many churches don't even have that. They pass around a bag or bucket and no one would know if you gave 10 cents or $100. Nowadays, because so many people give by electronic transfer, no one notices if you don't put your hand in the bag to make a donation.

But with Scientology, well check out their price list here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?bbxyqznmmfd

Imagine a Catholic priest charging $450 an hour for hearing confession (there's no charge for confession). But Scientologists have to buy 12.5 hour blocks of "auditing" - which they call their form of confessional - at $5687 a pop (see p2)! Or imagine paying $28,000 to do a "course" down at your local church (see p2).

So as the new Galactic overlord your set needs a Dragon, a captive of the backstage area, you lured with the promise ot the truth to his cause, and he sits and waits, for you to admit he exists, then he will pop his head out and eat any celebrity guest which is found in broken love situation and under public scruteny, this Muppet of an animatronic dragon which looks lifelike and breath fire to cook his captors new roasted toasty chicken fritter-totts... which he never feeds the dragon because it give it gas.

To have a giant dragon which can remove from the public spectical those torn by love, and made tolerant to the spectical of such tyrrants as TMZ to the cause of ration acting as political morale inducing works.

This dragons, which mubbles out of earshot the rational explainations to most of the situations of the discussion at what seems like almost pre-planned comedic brilliance.

To have a dragon chained, to have its powers of long wisdom due to lifes lived beyond the yokes of civilized creations..

To have a dragon, which can finally properly provide a person rational of mind equal enough to banter with the overlord himself.

But then... to understand that scientology does have merits as it applies, what no dragon I will never sell you... ha did I just type that.. Oh that too... well,

Steven Colbert needs a dragon, and I am sure their are others like me who would like to be rid of such a thing, for it to be reused for another stage, it enourmous in the scales of its FX, showing ability, and so it can be left stage or right, with no more than one head poking out...

The fart jokes to be had, at the dragons expense...

The rational ability for the Dragon to despense of desolate actors and actrress and other humilated peoples of high culture, but the dragon which can provide the cover of smoke, and the curiosity bumbling back stage of a rambunctious five year old...

It will fit, right...

Multitasking, Lauren! It is possible to be concerned about multiple things at any given time. And I'm usually not concerned about Scientology, but a few years back I met someone whose family had been badly affected by the "church" and its policies. In helping him try to get his sister out, I learned a hell of a lot about it. So now, if the topic comes up, I tend to speak up.

Of course people are allowed to believe whatever they'd like; I doubt my posting on this blog is somehow constraining someone else's free will.

It does amuse me when people write "why not focus on X? Or Y? Or Z?" It's framed as some sort of morally superior cause, but it always means "stop talking about something I don't want anyone to hear!"

Grace you seem to know a lot about Scientology. What other religions do you know about?

Also why the fuss? Why spend so much energy into anti-Scientology? There are much worse going on in our own government. Why not spend more time into that instead of Scientology? Use the information age to combat our recession? I mean if Scientology sounds that ridiculous then spending the energy to learn about it and then combat it sounds even more silly.

How about letting people believe or not believe on their own.

Sorry, I've just realized I should clarify on the pay-to-pray element:

In most religions, the holy text is easily accessible. The Bible, the Q'ran, the Torah, the Latter-Day Saints book (I think) are all available, either at libraries or at a bookstore or whatever. You pay a nominal fee, you get the holy text, and from there on in it's really up to you how you use it. You can go to worship, you can study privately, or you can shelve the book.

Scientology releases its documents in stages, and you have to pay for each stage. It's referred to as "tech" and usually requires that you sign up for a bunch of "courses" at each level, only allowing you to progress when you've completed the level. Each stage requires money for all those courses (and the ever-popular "auditing", which independent investigators deem a rudimentary lie detector/sweat-conductivity test).

For instance, the Xenu story we all now know and love? That used to be locked up in a high level of Scientology. The only reason we know it exists is because disgruntled ex-Scis who had paid for it posted it on the internet in the 90s (prompting an immediate sue-athon from CoS). Can you imagine getting into a religion, and having NO IDEA that the creation myth included a galactic overlord, hydrogen bombs and mass murder?

Hey Alice -- the other religions, tithing isn't compulsory. You can still pursue enlightenment without handing over cash. Scientology actually requires you to pay on a course-by-course basis for a roster of courses that supposedly advance you in the faith.

Otherwise, Scientology really just is an easy mark. Most other religions came about in less enlightened times, when we didn't know as much about science and the natural world, where myth was a lot more feasible. Five hundred years ago, talking snakes and virgin births and illiterate scribes were at least vaguely conceivable (Mormons don't have an easy time of it either, what with the magically disappearing golden tablets). Scientology's 50 years old, and we know a LOT more about L Ron Hubbard than other religions factually knew about their founders.

So, weirdo creation myth that doesn't match any fossil record, a founder who's got WWII army records declaring him somewhat mentally disturbed (bad luck for him, establishing at the start of the Information Age), who is quoted as saying to sci-fi authors "if you want to get rich, create a religion", who then turned his self-help series INTO a religion when it proved a good tax dodge, and a pay-for-pray religious structure that absolutely demands cash for enlightenment? In 2009, that's a hard bill of goods to sell.

At the end of the day why can't we just all get along?

Many followers of Native American spirituality, do not regard their spiritual beliefs and practices as a "religion" in the way in which many Christians do. Their beliefs and practices form a integral and seamless part of their very being.

Estimates of the numbers of Native North Americans at the time of the European arrival/invasion in what is now the United States and Canada vary between 1.2 to 12 million. By the end of the 19th century, the number of Native Americans had been reduced to 250,000, mainly through imported diseases, dislocation, slavery, mass murder and genocide. 1 Many of the survivors converted to Christianity.
