Things are definitely tough all over. My state is actually closing in on 11% unemployment. I heard on the news the other day that lawyers and former-executives are competing for a $10/hour poop-scooping job without benefits. I'd make a joke about how they should have taken six years to eke out a C-average at a bottom-shelf public university and gotten a job watching The Daily Show in their underwear, but there won't be a bailout for the basic-cable comedy network blogging industry, so I'm not tempting fate.

Would the daily show like the details where the previous administration covered up another Tuskegee like drug test on minorities in TEXAS in 2008! Came to light one year ago February…YES REALLY!! Hit the news and everything (unfortunately ran opposite war coverage and other major stuff),, but now smothered by federal agencies and letting it die a SLOW death in investigative limbo. Non-FDA known, non-FDA approved drug used on over 1,000 minority patients without their consent or knowledge. Major Health care fraud in a time that health care needs reforming. This story is the poster child for what is wrong in the entire industry.
The doctor brings the drug to the hospital for testing on the patients. The administrator is afraid of the powerful doctor and says, OK, if the other doctors say you can. Other physicians think it is snake oil but unanimously vote to allow the drug in the building. The administrator start to purchase the drug from the doctor’s company for use at this publicly funded hospital. (Two failures in the checks and balances of the system) Estimated fraud in the several millions of dollars for a small community hospital.
The pharmacist is supposed to check into such drugs with the FDA before installing the drug into hospital formulary, but he becomes an investor in the snake oil and allows the unknown drug into the pharmacy. There are no filings with the FDA or any committee at the hospital to supervise the unknown drugs use within the hospital. (Third and forth missed checks in the system)
Reports to the CEO, and director of nursing about testing and nothing is done. (Fifth and sixth failures of the system)
The Nurses are forced to use it on the patients with out the patients knowing it is a test drug with no information available for anyone to see. No consents, etc, but no one reports to authorities. The line workers just do as they are told for fear of loosing their jobs. (Seventh failure of the system at the local level)
The state Nursing Board was notified, the State medical Board was notified… no action taken State legislators notified FBI, OIG, Medicare / Medicaid notified. No one concerned. (Failures at state and federal levels.)
February 2008 after 4 month investigation, investigative reporter breaks news. Now Feds (Bushy drones) move in using slow motion and try to minimize what has happened because they are busy wiping egg off their faces. The FBI response to the assault and civil rights violation of over 1,000 minority patients? Victoria Texas FBI, (name withheld) Let the patients get a lawyer and sue the doctor…” as he was too busy to investigate.
Eventually the drug was forcibly taken for the hospital and removed from the open market. But a year later the Doctor is still working. And no one cares about the minority patients being tested on!!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE SYSTEM???? That is what I call Broken!
