Maybe it's just cheap tech nostalgia, but didn't it actually used to be easier to rewind things? I'm pretty sure rewinding technology peaked in 1993, after which all of the developments that were supposed to make it more intuitive almost always made it so you had to jump too far back at a time, forcing you to re-watch a ton of material you had already seen to get to the part you missed that you were curious about.
