Brian Posehn directed this kick-ass video called "Death to All But Metal" and then Sarah Silverman shows up in it and it's awesome. Watch it now!

This video's loving homages to 80s hair metal music videos got me thinking scholarly thoughts. For example, the classic archetype of the seemingly mild-mannered, disempowered teenager, a lover of heavy metal, stands in for the target audience. On it's face, this is an incredibly cynical and calculated move to identify a style of music with escapism. The escapism is further enforced through the lifestyle of consequence-free drugs, sex, and rock and roll many of the musicians led. My thesis statement posits that the rock stars themselves weren't fully aware of the connotations to this formula, because they, themselves, felt disempowered, and had not completely matured beyond the state of a 14 year old adolescent. Like all true auteurs, heavy metal musicians revealed more about themselves than they ever intended…

Oops, sorry. Went into college freshmen paper mode just now. Let me get back into comedy blog mode: "Wouldn't it be funny if this song was called "Death to all but Kettle," and this was all about tea kettles singing and dancing?"

My job here is done.
