Pete Holmes Receives the Gift of Roast
Sean McCarthy has a write-up of Tuesday night's very special party at NYC's Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Stand-up Pete Holmes asked his fellow stand-up friends to give him the thrashing of a lifetime (or at least worthy of a 30th birthday). The murderer's row included Leo Allen, John Mulaney, Anthony Jeselnik, Kumail Nanjiani, TJ Miller, Jared Logan, David Angelo, Nate Fernald, Seth Herzog, Julian McCullough and Jamie Lee.
Some of the stand-out rips McCarthy collected:
Anthony Jeselnik to Leo Allen: "It's amazing how he's always pushing the boundaries of how old a hipster can be."
TJ Miller: "Leo Allen, very funny guy. He used to write for SNL like 10 years ago when it was bad. Now John Mulaney writes for it when it's f-ing awful."
Pete Holmes: "We keep calling Kumail Aziz. Aziz is not here. Aziz is somewhere making Kumail irrelevant."
