For a start a particle may not even be a particle. In quantum particles also act like waves. As there are so many 'differing' theories the greatest probability is that none of them are right.

Now the Kelvin ... since the volume is controlled the pressure is proportional to temperature. The machine will produce a sustained temperature (also called energy density) at 2 trillion degrees it is 100,000 times hotter (more energy dense) than the interior of the sun.

Is 2 trillion degrees (energy density) sustained sufficient to start a collapse to a strange matter state (neutron star). Or further to a singularity (black hole), maybe become a raging uncontrolled expanding fireball (naked singularity). If not then there may be some useful physics detected or perhaps not.

I am the guy in the blue shirt in the Oliver visit to the LHC. You can see Oliver wearing a hard hat even in the elevator in a picture I posted on Facebook:

1) I hope to god that that highschool science teacher just misspoke and does not honestly actually believe the lunacy I just heard regarding probability.

2) Regarding this "bunny" character --- While there is certainly no shortage of uneducated ignoramuses (ignorami?) in society, the stubborn ones who actually believe themselves to be more knowledgeable than experts and won't listen to all the evidence to the contrary are clearly the most dangerous.

I find impressive that any school would alow that moron to be a science teacher.
No wonder the US educational system is loosing to every other country.
50 50 chance? my dog is brighter than that. Oh, and he must be a creationist.

i think Sod's law is what Bunny was looking for.
And I love the idea that a statement that the Titanic would never sink actually contributed to its sinking. Never underestimate the power of words...
