penelopeprincessoftvWe haven't heard much about Kristen Schaal and Kurt Braunohler's seriesification (totally a real word, everyone) of their amazing web series Penelope Princess of Pets in a while, but today, The Apiary did us all a favor and asked Kurt for us, the internet, if there were any updates, and there were! The pilot is filming in five days!

The pilot is going really well. We just had our final production meeting, where every little detail is gone over, including if we can get away with Kyle robbing a KFC in broad daylight. We start shooting in five days. Everyone on the crew is super amazing and talented. So it just feels like we're doing things the right way.

Hurray! The series is being developed for England's Channel 4, which means we won't be able to see it until a distributor buys the American rights to the show, which I'm assuming will happen pretty quickly considering that this show will be hilarious.

Also, some of the details Kurt spills make it sound like the awesomest show about a girl that talks to animals that ever existed.

One thing we learned is that the comedic talent in the U.K. is HUGE. It was overwhelming. We also got to meet a bunch of comedians whose work we respect, so that was worth it in and of itself…

Spencer has been amazing. He was the producer for The Mighty Boosh for the second and third series, as well as a bunch of other really great comedy series that are not as well-known in the states. He seems to know everybody, and everybody seems to like him. He's not only funny, but also a really good producer…

I realize that some of you are squares and might never have experienced Penelope Princess of Pets. I also realize the last time someone used the word square meaning lame, all of our moms were virgins (I'm saying it was a long time ago, but I'm also saying most of our moms had a lot of sex at a very young age. Ewwww!).

Ummm… where was I? Oh yeah, If you haven't seen Penelope Princess of Pets, I've embedded the first episode after the jump.

You did a great job asking Kurt questions, The Apiary, but you forgot to ask Kurt if the amazing Reggie Watts is doing the theme song. Please ask him next time or else I'll have to wait until the show airs, and that is too long from now, okay.
