Back before the novel was popularized, it was considered a trashy, unintellectual substitute for poetry, which was deemed a more sophisticated art form. Now, novels are regarded as intellectual pursuits, while film and television is what boneheads watch when they aren't busy crapping out kids and eating fast food. Thankfully, that all will change with the Kindle 3.
If you're one of those old fashioned geriatrics ruing the day film will take the place of books, try keeping things in perspective. In the future, intellectuals will complain that young people only watch movies when they are forced to in high school, and instead waste their lives watching two minute videos of cats being humiliated.
Did I say, "in the future?" I clearly meant, "in a year."
