Evidently Gallagher and Carrot Top Were in a Feud
Did you guys know about this? Gallagher and Carrot Top, the two titans of prop comedy, were in a feud for 20 years! It's like that time Spider-Man fought Superman.
As a teen, [Scott "Carrot Top"] Thompson would hang out backstage with Gallagher, and one of Thompson’s proudest moments was when Gallagher asked him to hear a joke.
“Here’s the one I told [Gallagher]: ‘In California, it’s legal to start a fire in the woods, but not on the beach. But on the beach, you’re 10 feet away from sand and water—that’s the shit that puts it out!’ Gallagher asked me if he could use that joke, and I was like, of course you can use it; you’re Gallagher!”
Gallagher’s relationship with Thompson turned sour in the early ’90s.
Luckily, after separately interviewing Top and Gallagher, the reporter reunited the two of them, and it sounds like they may have invented a tool that is a shovel on one and and a hatchet on the other, so you can dig a hole with it and then bury the hatchet.
Can we get a Carrot Top and Gallagher reality show now, please? And can they solve crimes together?

I don't really understand the venom Carrot Top inspires in people. I guess he's just not "pure" enough, and there's no room in comedy for anything except the "one guy and his words" type comic. I find him funny – by that I mean I laugh at his comedy act – a simple enough measure. Big rooms full of people in Las Vegas have laughed at his act for several years now. I think this second thing may contribute to the venom actually. Yep, plain old sour grapes.. "Why is he getting rich when I'm so much funnier?". Regarding Gallagher, to see him only as a prop comedian is like seeing only Ron White's glass of scotch. It's a trade-mark, but Gallagher's always been a funny and insightful comedian. Unfortunately, all people remember is the obvious.. 'the guy who smashes watermelons'. The tendency to want to impose limits on what comedians should do can come from unlikely directions.. lately it's been from the hip and the pure.. We can use any words we want, but we dare not employ a prop if we want approval from our fellow comedians and fifteen year old critics on YouTube.
he looks like a transvestite in that pic.
I've seen Gallagher recently with no props, it's all comedy – not even the melons and I thought he was fantastic. Funny as hell, witty, and his show was for 2 hours and included the audience. You are mistaken Robert…
Why does Carrott Top inject steroids? What is he trying to excel at?
Making the heaviest props?
He's not funny but at least he's better than that racist George Lopez.
I still think CarrotTop and Mark McGrath are the same person.
This is something that is not news. It would be were either of them funny, worth a watch or interesting to quote. Take away the props and they're nothing. That it took twenty years for the "fued" to surface means that this is just a real cheap method of publicity. Dreamed up by someone who is very lame in the publicity department. What next? A fued with Yako Smirnoff?
