CineMash is a new series of online short films that Mean Magazine has created, in which celebrity duos recreate famous scenes from classic movies. In the first installment, Zooey Decshanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt pair up to become Sid and Nancy. Did I mention that Deshanel plays Sid, and Levitt dons a blonde wig to become pathetic girlfriend Nancy?
CineMash plans to continue the series with Cheech and Chong recreating Tron, the cast of Reno 911! in Point Break, Channing Tatum and Charlyne Yi in Dirty Dancing and, my personal favorite, Will Arnett in Carrie.
Future mash ups I'd like to see? Glad you–or technically I–asked! I wouldn't mind seeing Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter recreate the famous goodbye to Casablanca. But who would be the beautiful Ingrid Bergman? I can definitely picture Showalter in the blonde wig and Black doing his best Bogart. Obviously, I have a thing for men in blond wigs. I could also go for Will Ferrell as Hannibal Lecter, but who would be his Clarice? Only time will tell if CineMash listens to my ideas and yours.
