Jon Stewart Voted America's Most Trusted Newscaster

In the wake of Walter Cronkite's death, Time conducted a poll to find out which news anchor Americans trust the most, and Jon Stewart won resoundingly with 44% of the vote, beating out Brian Williams, Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric.
On the one hand, yay, I'm always happy when my coworkers succeed. On the other hand, yikes, our fake journalists are more trustworthy than our real journalists. What time is Ow My Balls on?
Meanwhile, there are two things I really like about these Alaska results:
#1. They add up to 101%
#2. The entire state clearly holds a grudge against Katie Couric for her Palin interview.
The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11pm / 10c.

I love Alaska, silly grudge-holding Eskimos.
[...] As I have not been around DI of late, I thought I'd pop in just momentarily to reiterate my adoration (no, that's not too strong a word) of Jon Stewart. His show recently won an Emmy and in a poll conducted by Time Magazine over the summer, he was once again named the most trusted journalist in America. [...]
Jon Stewart is THE news. The rest are all comedies.
If you watch Stewart for comedy only do not continue. If not, Stewart, Newscaster, trusted, should not be in the same sentence, please he is comedy. It's sad how many of the topics Stewart and his staff decide to investigate are fairly superficial and easy to make fun of , or he does one of those ridicules blame games. Please dig, dig, dig, dig into issues that have a profound impact on what happens to Americans in America and put up an ‘attempted’ unbiased flair or is that beyond his writing staff. How about investigation the Czars, or report on the controversial health care issues that are really hot and get interviews and debates from people with opposite views, oh ya Stewart is a comedy show and interviews mainly those that agree with him. He makes money by making fun of people, what so funny about making fun of Bush or Palin when Obama was in office for to four month. What?, no Obama material, please, oh ya, it’s comedy for right wings. Why would anyone take a comedy show as a serious place to get ‘truthful’ news. How about responsible reporting, that’s right, it’s a comedy show. But Stewart and people like him make fun of others that do not feel as he does. I watched Stewart on a regular basis, but not anymore and not for the past year he has gone nuts, to be fair, I don’t watch ABC news either. Most trusted newscaster, has to be self proclaimed. After seeing what Obama’s administration is doing I’m truly disappointed in the way I voted. Seems like many others are seeing the light too. If you do not consider yourself a lemming, start doing the research on your own because most of the places we get our news is worthless information. Treat Stewart for what he does, comedy.
I wasn't asked to participate in the poll, but even though I like Brian Williams, I think I would have also voted for Jon Stewart. His honesty is refreshing (as well as entertaining).
According to Time's own site, it's not a scientific poll. Therefore, it really has no meaning. We don't know if the respondents accurately reflect the populations of those states. The only way to get a truely valid poll is to conduct it scientifically – that may end up making the results very different (or not).

I think it's Stewart's candor and bluntness that Americans find refreshing. He confronts topics head on and questions the media. He might not be a conventional reporter, but being the odd man out may have led to his winning the poll.

There is hope for America when Jon Stewart rates highest on credibility in reporting the news. It also proves it's possible to be an intellectual AND have a sense of humor. Take a deep breath, America: we may be smarter than we thought.

The best comedy comes from telling the truth. Stewart and his writers have nailed this.
Well, in another poll, Alaska had the highest votes for "We should ignore Sarah Palin."
I love the bit about "ow my balls"
Terrifying.
America isn't full of idiots. We're all very much aware that the "real" news is so much BS due to the twisting and spin put on it by the parent companies that now own the Media that produce and air the "News". The parent companies control what is seen and heard and HOW it is seen and heard to promote their POV or detract from their opponents' or competitions' potential gain. The newspapers aren't any different except they're starting to die off due to the Internet. Those who change and adopt a worldwideweb persona will survive and will keep on doing what they're doing now. Spin, spin, spin.
