Seinfeld Finally Gets Curbed
When a long-running sitcom finally bows out, many people have a hard time letting go. Recurring characters and situations provide a sense of comfort in a highly fractured world.
That's why eleven years after its final episode, people still ask Larry David if there will ever be a Seinfeld reunion. And he's always brushed the idea off, probably because it would be impossible to live up to expectations. But where there's a will, there's a way…
The seventh season of [Curb Your Enthusiasm] will be centered around the TV version of David finally agreeing to do a reunion of the defining '90s sitcom. All four "Seinfeld" castmembers — Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Michael Richards — will play themselves in multiple episodes, and the season finale will feature extensive snippets of the show-within-the-show.
Both Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm are already so self-referential. This is going to blow my post modern mind. This meta is making me thirsty (great reference)!
"It was surprisingly smooth. Coming up with the right ideas for what's happened in 11 years, that took some thought. Three of the guys working on my show as executive producers also were producers on 'Seinfeld,' so I was working with them."
This sounds like a really great and fun way to make all of us Seinfeld super fans (a.k.a the entire world) very happy, while still subverting and poking fun at the idea of a Seinfeld reunion itself. Hooray for Hollywood!
