So you might have heard the recent grumblings that Futurama might return without it's original cast intact. I bet you were all like, "Oh, no! My life is ruined forever!" Well, now you can finally relax, Futurama nerds. A deal has been struck and the entire cast is returning for the new season!
The five Futurama cast members — John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Maurice LaMarche and Tress MacNeille — have just sealed pacts with 20th Century Fox TV to return to the show as it reboots with 26 new episodes for Comedy Central.
"We are thrilled to have our incredible cast back," creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen said in a statement. "The call has already gone out to the animators to put the mouths back on the characters."
The studio announced in June that it would produce 26 new episodes of Futurama, and that Comedy Central was on board to begin airing the new episodes in mid-2010.
Do you hear that? Nerds like me across the country are shrieking in victory. After work, we're all going to gather in my mom's basement to play a celebratory game of Dungeons and Dragons before going out to feast like kings at Little Caesars Pizzeria, because tonight we dine in nerd Heaven.
What I'm trying to say is I am happy about this news.
