Jeff Dunham to Appear on 30 Rock
I've heard a rumor or two about this recently, but it appears as if this is 100% true. Jeff Dunham is going to guest star on the next episode of 30 Rock. Before I get into all this, I should say SPOILER ALERT! There are several 30 Rock spoilers in this post. Full SPOIL ahead, captain!
In an interview alongside Jack McBrayer, 30 Rock show runner and writer Robert Carlock revealed Dunham would appear in a future episode of the NBC sitcom as a special guest star.
We've got… Jeff Dunham, who's a standup who has a big part in the Halloween episode, which is our third episode.
Later on in the interview Jack McBrayer mentions this storyline from the Halloween episode…
…at one point Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey's characters go down to Kenneth's hometown for a talent search…
From these two pieces of information, I've deduced Jeff Dunham will be playing a ventriloquist from Kenneth's hometown who is discovered by Jack and Liz during their search for a new performer on TGS. If you're wondering how I connected those two stories to reveal Dunham's role in the series, well, I guess I just have great detective skills!
But also Carlock basically said the same thing in another interview…
"He and Liz make a trip down to Stone Mountain, Ga., Kenneth's hometown, to find a new comic voice, and they run afoul of a Southern ventriloquist played by Jeff Dunham," Carlock says. "Jack thinks he's the funniest thing he's ever seen and accuses Liz of Yankee snobbery. It all culminates in the murder of a ventriloquist doll. Jack and Liz can't go to small-town America and not get run out on a rail."
That sounds like Must DVR TV!
So what does this all mean, dummies? (Pun intended but also, you guys are dummies). Next Thursday, you can get a double dose of Dunham, by watching the second episode of The Jeff Dunham Show and then quickly chasing it with the Halloween episode of 30 Rock.
The Jeff Dunham Show airs Thursdays at 9pm / 8c.
