Colbert Launches "Don't Be an Ice-Hole" Letter Campaign
Update: Here's Stephen announcing the campaign on last night's show…
There's a war brewing between The Colbert Nation and The Canadian Nation, also sometimes known as Canada. And it's a struggle over one of the most important issues facing our generation: Speedskating.
But what can you do to help in the fight against Canada? For starters, you can donate to the US Speedskating team. And after that you can download and sign your name to this thoughtful and impassioned letter to Canada (link opens PDF).
Send your letter of protest to:
The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympics
Vancouver 2010
#400 – 3585 Graveley Street
Vancouver, BC
V5K 5J5
Canada
Let them know we're done being oppressed by their sticky, maple-syrup-stained hands.
If you're not up to speed on all this, videos from the bloody back-and-forth can be found after the jump, and you can see an image of the despicable antics of some Canadians here.
The Colbert Report airs Monday through Thursday at 11:30pm / 10:30c.

Stephen… What about your Colbert Nation supporters that reside in Canada. I would hate for this issue to divide your supporters. As a proud Canadian and equally proud member of the Colbert Nation I hope to be the voice of peace and reason. Let us skate together in Vancouver 2010! But this letter campaign to be honest doesn't really threaten us… the US postal system will probably only end up delivering a fraction of the letters successfully.
I just printed the letter, signed my name, and put it in the mail box! =) PROUD member of the Colbert Nation!
Dear Stephen,
You should make sure that the people writing these letters for the campaign are writing them on American-sourced and American-made paper. Otherwise, your viewers may be supporting Canada's pulp and paper industry, which ships thousands of tonnes of pulp and paper products to the U.S. each year. Moreover, they may also contribute to creating more jobs for Canadians by giving more money to the paper industry! Just a thought!
Thank you!
Sincerely,
A polite and concerned Canadian
Dear Canada,
Don't tread on our speedskaters! The whole Colbert Nation is watching! Eh?
Sincerely,
Ariel Kuehn and the rest of North Dakota's & the Colbert Nation
This is very offensive to me as a Canadian. I am very disappointed that your Country would want to verbally attack us. I hope you would reconsider your attacks on us. We are a small and humble country but take pride in who we are. We will not tolerate intentional attacks at us.
