Brian Williams: Jon Stewart Is Indispensable
Newsweek has come out with a list of the decade's top "Influencers," and Jon Stewart ranked second. Even better, they let Brian Williams write the accompanying profile, and he said a lot of nice things. Nice things like this:
The old arc of a news story went like this: News happens. Media cover news. Audience reacts, then turns in for the night. For the past several years, however, there’s been another step added to the end of the process: being held to account for our faults by a comedy show with a sharp eye and a sharp tongue. How did we live without it?
You can read the full profile here.
Also of note: Steve Jobs snagged the top spot, and they got Fake Steve Jobs to write about him.
After the jump, you can watch Brian Williams's most recent Daily Show appearance.
The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11pm / 10c.

This is the laziest comment ever. But all things being equal, the pee episode is the newest episode, and so is being played all week. I agree it isn't particularly good, but it's just the newest one, so they're playing that one. Pay attention next time.
Colbert/Stewart have always taken the Thanksgiving week off.
The Colbert Report Sucks. It always has. Could they possibly play the f-ing Southpark Pee toon any more? Is it some kind of bet to see if anyone pays attention? I do and its stupid to play the same f-ing rerun when you have seasons of archives that are still funny. The Daily show taking the whole Thanksgiving week off? The show carries the rest and its obvious you guys are loosing your enthusiasm. Jon Stewart there is still something you can do that will be a real service and entertaining. The public needs a voters advocate. One who maintains awareness of the political bullshit and simply makes recommendations on voting issues and reminds the voters when to vote. You could have a cross section of advocates so as to make each voter able to find an advocate that shares similar opinions. Then you could really influence politics.
